Alyssa Gallardo2015-2016 Communications DirectorNational University, San Diego Graduation: November 2016 Greetings! I am fortunate to have the opportunity to serve as CNSA's Communications Director. I am currently in my 2nd and final year of my BSN program at National University in San Diego. I have been the Communications Director of my local chapter, National University Student Nurses' Association (NUSNA), since September 2015. In addition to serving on NUSNA's Board of Directors, I am a peer mentor, workshops leader, community service volunteer, and an active member in various committees. I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA and moved to San Diego in 2011 after graduating with a degree in biological sciences from Virginia Tech. I am a proud Hokie, and I learned the value of service from my alma mater, whose motto is "Ut Prosim" or "That I May Serve." I live by those words, and I have a penchant for serving others and providing quality service in all aspects of my professional and personal life. At Virginia Tech, I was an active member of the Filipino American Student Association (FASA) and served on its Executive Board as Historian and oversight of the Promotions Committee. I was also Stage Design Chair, Traditional Choreographer, and Fundraising Chair for FASA. I also actively participated in numerous volunteer activities to serve my fellow Hokies and the Virginia Tech community. My experiences have allowed me to develop my communication and leadership skills, but as a lifelong learner, I believe that they will continue to be works in progress. I have always had a passion for science since I was young, and I was drawn to pursuing a career in the medical field. I thought I wanted to go to medical school to become a pediatrician, but I realized along the way I was meant to become a nurse. The encouragement and guidance of my family members and friends who are nurses gave me the final push I needed to begin my nursing journey. With my support of my family, friends, and fellow student nurses, my adventure in nursing school has reinforced my passion to serve others. It has also allowed me the privilege of meeting exceptional nurses and other medical professionals who inspire me to become a great leader and a quality nurse. I am honored to have been selected as a member of the CNSA Board to serve alongside amazing people. I am excited to bring my creativity to the CNSA Board, and I look forward to serving the members of CNSA. Goals:
