2015-2016 Image of Nursing Committee Chair
CSU, Sacramento
Graduation: May 2016

I am honored to serve as Image of Nursing Chair for the 2015-2016 term! After taking a brief leave of absence from my former career path in education, I returned to school to pursue a career in healthcare and it was the best decision I have ever made! I started out at as a CNA, then an LVN, and am so excited to soon be an RN. There is nothing else in the world I would rather be doing than nursing!

While navigating the madness of nursing school, I try to be actively involved in both the local and international communities. I volunteer at several community health events and free clinics serving  local undeserved populations and have had the opportunity to      volunteer in satellite clinics in Peru providing care to people who have no access to care.

I maintain active involvement in CNSA. I have served as Cohort Representative at my local CNSA chapter and have recently been elected as Vice President. On the state level, I have served on the CNSA Bylaws Committee and am currently on the Breakthrough to Nursing Committee.

I am elated to be serving in my new role as Image of Nursing Chair because I passionately feel that promoting a positive image of nursing will help us make a positive impact as nurses both with the patients we directly care for and for people on a wider scale.

Goals:

  • Develop a state level Image of Nursing Committee with representation from across the state so that our diverse voices can be heard.

  • Work with Breakthrough to Nursing (BTN) committee and Cultural Awareness Committee to create a statewide event to promote the image of nursing.

  • Support local chapters in planning local events that promote a positive image of nursing including projects at local K-12 schools so that an accurate and positive image of nursing is fostered from a young age.

  • Promote a positive image of nursing by educating the public on the role of nurses through social media and local media outlets and increase involvement on the CNSA Image of Nursing Profile on Facebook.

  • Publish  quarterly articles to Range of Motion  that cultivate a positive image of nursing.
