Jessica Gonzalez
2015-2016 Membership Director South
National University, San Diego
From a very young age, I have always known that I wanted to pursue a career in medicine. My passion for science and fascination with the medical practice fostered my desire to follow in my father's footsteps and become a doctor. In 2011, I graduated from University of California San Diego with a degree in Biological Anthropology after completing my pre-medical coursework. However, it was during my college years that I began to realize perhaps a career as a physician was not necessarily my calling. I still found myself drawn to the practice of medicine, and soon after graduating college, I decided to go back to school for nursing.
Currently, I am in my second year at National University San Diego and truly feel that I have found my purpose. After calling San Diego home for nearly nine years, my husband and I plan to return back to our roots in Northern California. As for my career, I have always held a strong interest in Emergency Medicine, and ultimately, I hope to work within an emergency trauma unit. When I gain enough experience, I aspire to one day return to school and pursue my goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner.
As I become more engrossed in my journey to becoming a nurse, I am inspired to be more involved in student nurse activities and organizations. As an active member in my school's local chapter, I work closely with our mentorship program and volunteer at various events throughout the community. Through the support of my family and amazing schoolmates, I am ecstatic and deeply honored to serve on the California Nursing Students' Association as your Membership Director South. Goals:
I look forward to meeting you and working with you to build your chapters. I encourage you to contact me via email with any questions or concerns you have or if you are just seeking some support. No question is too big or too small! [email protected]
