Graduation: May 2017
I am beyond excited and thrilled to serve as your 2016-2017 Community Health Director, thank you all for this wonderful opportunity, this year is going to be fantastic! I started my nursing path when I was about twelve years old and spent part of a summer at my local hospital learning about the different health care career options. I thought I wanted to be a veterinarian because my dad was one and growing up on a farm I loved animals; I had no clue what I was doing at a hospital in the beginning, but it was that summer that I realized my passion for helping people. I then continued on to Sonoma State University to pursue my nursing degree. I first started loving community service and outreach in high school and decided to keep going with it in college. I worked for our on campus student-run non-profit community service organization, in which I organized and ran community service projects on and off campus for college students to participate in. Through this, I was able to gain a lot of experience in finding fun ideas for projects and ways to implement them. I also am currently the President of the Sonoma State CNSA Chapter; we are a new chapter and our board has worked very hard this past year in getting our chapter more involved and starting up a lot of community outreach projects in our area. As nurses we play a huge role in community outreach because not all lives are saved in the acute care setting and we need to be able to help our patients once they do leave the hospital and return home. My goals for this year are focused around this concept. Goals for 2016-2017:
